who we arewhat we do
We are skilled in the communication of complex environmental policy and technology information to a range of audiences through a variety of media, e.g. presentations, interactive workshops, articles in specialist press, publications, verbal advice and web-sites. We also have expertise in helping organisations to develop marketing strategies and writing publications for specialist and non-specialist audiences. For example;
  • In partnership with the Scout Association, Impetus Consulting has been awarded funding from Defra to run a two year climate challenge communications project. We will be using our climate change expertise to design a number of components to communicate the message through this project including dedicated climate change pages on the Scout Association website, activities for leaders to download and use at their evening meetings, training of staff and visitors at Gilwell Park and an annual Climate Challenge Award for the Scout Group that produces the most innovative method of communicating climate change in their local community.
  • Also funded by Defra is the 'Business Climate Champions' project we are running in partnership with the Association of Town Centre Management and Action for Market Towns. This project aims to encourage businesses to take action through the provision of clear, compelling and factual messages on climate change. The project will highlight the financial impacts of climate change along with appropriate solutions to strengthen the commercial opportunities this may bring. We will be using a number of channels to communicate the climate change message including an interactive website, regional seminars and an accreditation scheme for businesses that have pledged to do their bit and take action.
  • On behalf of the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes, Impetus recently produced a communications strategy for promoting and disseminating materials produced by the Partnership on improving energy efficiency in 'hard to treat' homes.
  • As part of the Practical help programme, we oversee the production of 'Practical help news', a quarterly full colour newsletter sent to over 5,000 contacts.
  • In 2004, we delivered a series of 10 workshops to groups of local authority officers around the country to disseminate the results of an evaluation of local authority fuel poverty strategies.
  • As part of the Practical help programme, we deliver around 40 presentations and workshops a year to groups of local authorities and housing associations.
  • As part of the stakeholder consultation we are currently managing for a London borough on a proposed district heating scheme, we are preparing a detailed display board that will be on display at the local leisure centre, as well as a leaflet and presentation.
